Well-established, state licensed (not religiously affiliated) group home in the Northern Shenandoah Valley looking for a dynamic committed couple to be House Parents.  The right couple would be mature, responsible, high-energy, individuals prepared to love and care for children from all walks of life, ages 5-18 years old.

You must be able to work in a team-oriented environment as well as possess excellent organizational and time management skills.  Must be able to manage the varied schedules of our young people as well as provide loving, consistent parenting, daily supervision and discipline.  Must have the ability and attitude to work with and respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.

Annual salary is $35,000 per person, per year with medical, dental, and a monthly stipend for retirement investment purposes. House parents receive 7 days of paid vacation per year, as well as generous compensation for holiday’s that fall on their shifts.    

House parents work rotating shifts of 7 days on/7 days off.  Private In-House apartment, meals and utilities are provided for the 7 days House parents are on-duty. House Parents are responsible for their own accommodations for the 7 days you they are off-duty.

House parents must be at least 21 years of age and in possession of a valid driver’s license. You must be able to pass drug testing and criminal background checks.  You MUST have a High School Diploma OR have a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.) AND you MUST have a minimum of six months experience working with children.  CPR & First Aid certification required. Training will be provided.   

 Additional education in the areas of child development, human services, trauma-informed care a plus.

Full Time Management Team to Live On-Site

We are seeking a friendly and skilled management team to lead our RV park in the heart of the Willamette Valley.  This is a unique opportunity to be the face of our park, managing all aspects of guest services -- from check-ins to fostering a positive community.  Your strong communication and problem-solving skills will be the key to ensuring every guest's stay is exceptional.

Our ideal candidates are a proactive and detail-oriented team ready to ensure efficiency and continued success, while providing an excellent experience for all our residents and visitors.  

Work Days: Typically Wednesday -- Sunday 

Work Hours: 9:00am -- 6:00pm (lunch 1:00 - 2:00pm)

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Taking reservations -- both by phone and email
  • Checking in visitors 
  • Checking out visitors
  • Processing payments: cash/credit cards
  • Explaining park rules to guests 
  • Making daily bank deposits 
  • Filing paperwork
  • Reading/inputting electric meter information
  • Preparing monthly rental agreements upon acceptance to the park
  • Enforcing Lanlord-Tenant Laws on the monthly rentals
  • Janitorial work: cleaning public restrooms/showers/laundry rooms/ recreation room/pool area/office
  • Facility work: maintaining grounds/mowing/raking/blowing/weed control/ bush & tree trimming/pressure washing
  • Be able to be certified to pump propane 
  • Maintain pool -- chemical reading and adjustments
  • Electrical: change out breakers/electrical connections at electric base.

Requirements: 

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend/kneel
  • Ability to operate power equipment 

Compensation/Benefits: 

  • Employer-provided housing:  2 bedroom house + major utilities provided (electricity, water, sewer, garbage, basic TV, internet)
  • Hourly wage starting at $19.00/hour per employee + commission based on rental revenue (average total hourly wage with commission comes to ~$24.75/hour per employee)

Amarillo Children's Home seeks a married husband and wife to work together, serving as House Parents for children/teens from backgrounds of abuse and neglect. We offer a robust salary and benefits package totaling $98,000/year per couple, including housing and relocation assistance.

Our mission is to restore the identity of children that they may realize their great value and be a blessing to others.  Our House Parents serve as parents to a group of 6-8 children ages K-12. Qualifications: Applicants must be a legally married husband and wife willing to relocate to Amarillo.  Qualified applicants will demonstrate sound judgment and good moral character, will have the ability to work with groups of youth from traumatic backgrounds, and will be able to serve as a role model for youth.

Additionally, applicants must be 21 + years of age, fluent in English, possess a valid drivers' license and good driving record, pass drug and tuberculosis screenings, and pass thorough background checks. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. College coursework in social work, psychology, education or related is preferred. Experience working with youth is strongly preferred.

 

House Parents may have up to two of their own children and one pet living on campus with them in their apartment, that includes a full kitchen, living area, two bedrooms and bathroom.

House Parent Job Duties include 

  • Provide supervision and emotional safety for youth
  • Provide for the emotional needs of youth by providing praise, empathy, optimism, and respect
  • Provide for the social needs of youth by teaching social skills and fostering healthy relationships
  • Provide for the spiritual needs of youth by participating as a Christian example on and off campus, encouraging youth’s spiritual growth, participate in regular spiritual devotionals, and when on duty at Amarillo Children’s Home, attend church with the cottage youth regularly.
  • Provide for the academic and vocational development of youth by working with school personnel, establishing specific goals, and assisting youth in achieving their goals.
  • Provide helpful feedback related to the youth’s progress in accordance with their goals and ACH's program
  • Manage funds for the home including a checking account and cash for youth activities. Prepare regular accounting and reports for funds. 
  • Maintain the cleanliness of cottages that includes the inside and outside locations in compliance with state contract and minimum standard requirements, health standards, and administration expectations so that a positive image is presented
  • Provide transportation for youth in care on a regular basis, including to school, work, extracurricular activities, medical appointments, and other activities as needed
  • Maintain records and documentation as required by state contract and minimum standards, health standards, and ACH expectations

Program provides live in quarters aboard one of our program vessels (power or sailboat) or you may bring your own live-aboard vessel, or your own RV may be considered for the right couple.

 

Couples who have practical life experience, boating, sailing &/or small space living experience is preferred.  Other vocational skills that are assets include - off grid living, carpentry, mechanical, sewing, canvas work, boat repair, marina work, gardening, etc.  Must have strong relationship skills, be able to correct without 'coddling' - ongoing training is provided.   This is a VERY ACTIVE position with lots of time walking the property, docks, boarding boats, climbing stairs so good physical health is crucial.
