We are seeking a responsible, caring married couple to become our relief houseparent's. We are located in Ellensburg,and our facility was specifically designed and created to promote independent living for four young men with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our mission is to provide a life-sharing home focusing on living as independently as possible in a safe, caring homelike environment.
Our care philosophy emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with support and respect for each resident.
Our relief houseparent's are responsible for overseeing their established daily routines while the primary houseparent’s are away from the home. We strive to integrate daily opportunities that a typical person might experience into a unifying whole, so that life is truly as rich and fulfilling as possible.
Position Salary: $31,360 per couple; which includes bi-annual salary increases along with a comprehensive benefit package and private off-site housing w/utilities.
Work Schedule: Our relief houseparent’s are scheduled to work nine days a month. In addition to the nine days the relief parents will work a total of twenty additional days throughout the year to cover primary houseparent's vacations.
Additional opportunities to earn further compensation will be offered.
Qualifications: •Must meet the training requirements to become a Washington State Individual Care Provider (IP).
Each relief houseparent will complete 75 hrs. paid training to meet the requirements. Employment shall be contingent upon the results of a Washington State background check. Must have a valid Driver's License and First Aid/CPR certification. •A high school diploma or equivalent; experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred but, not required.
•Physically and mentally capable of performing the requirements of each residents care plan which includes preparing and cooking meals.
•Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and act on them. Ability to handle personal care tasks with sensitivity.
•Must be reliable, flexible and have the ability to work in a team environment.
