Position Summary:

Railroad Park Resort is seeking a friendly, positive, hospitality-minded couple to join our Leadership Team in the area of Guest Services in spring 2024. This is a live-in position with a 1-bedroom second story apartment onsite included as part of the compensation. The Lodging Managers will partner with company leaders to manage the day-to-day operations of the resort. These positions are responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing front desk hospitality, reservations and lodging operations, housekeeping, and gift shop sales. The Lodging Managers will coordinate and implement projects, improve processes, and ensure that all Railroad Park Resort guests have a positive experience. They will also contribute to the spirit of teamwork, employee appreciation, stewardship, warmth, and service that is central to the Railroad Park Resort staff culture.

About Railroad Park Resort: Since 1968, Railroad Park Resort has been a top north state vacation destination consisting of: ● 23 caboose lodging rooms & 4 cabins ● A full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner ● A 45 space RV/Tent campground ● Game room and camp store ● Views of Castle Crags and forest lands ● A pool/hot tub, river, ponds, and other beautiful amenities on 48 acres We are open year round and have a Tripadvisor “Certificate of Excellence” property with a strong following. There is tremendous opportunity and we are seeking a couple with a can-do spirit who wishes to be a part of our leadership team.

Lodging Manager | Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

● 30-40 hour work week with “on-call” duties as required

● Directly responsible for overseeing: ○ Reservation systems, lodging operations, and front desk staff ○ Housekeeping/laundry operations and staff; Perform quality checks on guest accommodations ○ Group Reservations ○ Solutions to guest-related issues ○ Gift Shop sales

● Supervision: ○ Hire and onboard team members ○ Monitor performance and support skills training ○ Ensure success of the property by providing expertise and assisting with decisions when needed ○ Ensure a safe working environment ○ Plan for contingencies and be well prepared in the event of an emergency; Respond effectively and quickly to unexpected maintenance and weather challenges

● Customer Service: ○ Positively engage with guests; Champion warm welcomes and fond farewells with all guests and visitors whenever arriving/departing ○ Get to be an engineer! Host property tours by driving guests in a trackless train! ○ Be familiar with the local area (things to see and do) to direct guests to places and activities of interest ○ Encourage guests to complete online reviews such as on Google, Trip Advisor, etc. ○ Ensure all lodging facilities are in top condition and in full working order ○ Ensure that all housekeeping standards are met ○ Take shifts at the front desk and fill in as needed

● Other duties: ○ Building, grounds, equipment maintenance and repairs (as needed) ○ Administrative duties, daily report, and cash drawer reconciliation ○ Event coordination; Organize special guest packages

Others duties as required

Preferred:

● A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in hospitality and customer service, with management-level experience 

Required:

● Proficiency in computer programs; Familiar with POS systems and use as needed for checking guests in, gift shop sales, processing gift certificates, etc.

● Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle

● Ability to drive a golf cart

● Able to effectively communicate clearly with managers, staff, and guests

● Strong interpersonal and listening skills required, with sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and various communication styles

● Ability to exercise good judgment, manage time effectively to solve problems, and respond appropriately to changing circumstances and priorities

● Ability to manage several tasks and competing priorities; Ability to be solutions-oriented

● Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality

● High proficiency with follow-through and dependability

● Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and lift items

● Must be able to regularly climb stairs to access cabooses and apartment

● Must be able to frequently communicate orally online and by telephone
