WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Have you always wanted to live and work in one of the most beautiful areas in the United States? Petersburg, Alaska is a small fishing town of about 2,500 people located on Mitkof Island in the middle of the majestic Tongass Rainforest. World class fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and kayaking are a ten minute drive away, and despite the isolation of this small town there are all the amentities you have become accustomed to living down South. Two grocery stores, a movie theater, a public gym with sauna and a heated indoor pool, a hospital, and much more. Watch orcas swim past your kitchen window, while bald eagles fight over fish just overhead.
We are a locally owned self storage facility located 3 miles from downtown with over 200 units and six buildings on two properties. We are seeking one or two honest, hardworking, and respectful individuals to take over management of the properties in June or July for the foreseeable future. This job is ideal for a couple, as the work is all by appointment only giving you the flexibility to work a full time job in addition to your property management duties. One person can assume the managerial duties while the other works full time, or both parties can split the duties and work their other jobs on different schedules. Actual work is approximately 20-30 hours per month, and includes groundskeeping, snow removal, minor maintenance, as well as running point-of-sale software to move customers in and out of their storage units and take payments for monthly rent.
Successful candidates must live on site, in a very private two-story apartment with a stunning view of the gorgeous Wrangell Narrows, where you can watch fishing boats and ferries pass by all day while seals and otters play just below your kitchen window. All rent and utilities are included (an approx. $1,200 value), in addition to a monthly stipend of $650 plus $20/hour for any labor outside of the general maintenance duties.
The owner of the business is only in town for 3 months during the summer, so it would be your responsibility to keep things running smoothly and efficiently all year. I am loathe to give up this wonderful opportunity, however changing life circumstances are calling me elsewhere and I need to find a solid and trustworthy replacement. If you think you would be a good fit for this amazing opportunity, please contact us with a resume and a short essay about why you would be the best candidate for this job.
