Job Description: Ranch Caretaker Couple We are looking for a hardworking, trustworthy and dedicated live-in couple for our ranch in Rio Frio, Texas to help take care of our animals and housekeeping. Free housing is provided for the couple. Foreman Duties: • Oversee and execute the daily operations • Irrigating and mowing the lawn • Feeding cattle, dogs and horses • Cedar clearing with skid steer • Fence repair and general maintenance • Cleans deer blinds as needed • Performs minor repair around the property to include, fence damage, welding duties, and some minor repairs on PVC water lines. • Able to work with heavy machinery (i.e. back hoe, tractor, bull dozer) Cattle Program ?We run a herd of Registered Red Angus cows and depending on rainfall will have between 50-100 cows. Most important duty is keeping good records of birth weights and tagging calves during spring calving. Other duties include keeping cattle on vaccination calendar. Works calves during weaning; tattoo, weighing and branding. Grow bulls out and heifer replacements, managing feed intake. Feeds cattle and cleans water troughs, rotates cattle from different pastures. Haul cattle in trailers to the sale auction. Housekeeper Duties: • Cleaning the bathrooms, including mirrors, toilets, showers and baths • Cleaning the kitchen, including wiping down appliances, counters, sinks and cabinet doors • Washing and drying dishes and putting them away • Changing bed linens and making the beds • Washing, folding and ironing clothes • Cleaning interior windows • Removing garbage and recycling • Restocking personal items such as toilet paper, tissues, etc. • General tidying up of the rooms. This includes putting away toys, decluttering and light organizing • Keeping track of cleaning supplies and letting you know when they are low and need to be replaced • Running errands for the family. This can include things like grocery shopping or dropping off dry cleaning and mail Must be self-starters, work independently and well with others, be real cow people with great observational skills, have good attitudes and work ethics, and be interested in a long-term commitment.
