Summer Season 2018 (April 1 – October 31). We are looking for a responsible management couple as resident managers to oversee a seasonal Motel & Cabin business in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Couple must enjoy serving guests and have the desire to create a memorable experience for each guest. Must be hard working, get along well with others, have a positive attitude, and be flexible in their job assignments. The successful applicants will live in a provided apartment adjacent to the motel office and will not have pets.
We are a busy full service Lodge and Cabins business located in what was once the historic gold mining town in the late 1800's of Rockerville, 10 miles South of Rapid City and 10 miles North of Mt. Rushmore!
Job Summary
Responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, registering guests, assigning rooms, accommodating special requests, managing staff and vendors and ensuring guests have a pleasant stay.
Job Duties:
- Manager couple will oversee 2 full-time housekeepers and often work alongside them, when necessary, to make sure rooms are turned prior to the 3pm check-in time. This task involves cleaning and inventorying 22 rooms (13 in the motel strip and 9 in 3 separate cabins) upon guest checkout, daily towel exchange, and laundry.
- Manager couple will oversee 1 full-time maintenance person and work alongside them, when necessary, to keep the 2.5 acre grounds pristine. This task involves lawn maintenance, building up-keep, special projects, and more.
- Manager couple will manage the store. This will require computer literacy as the role involves taking reservations on a Lodging Automation software system and POS registers for store purchases. Responsible for guest relations, reservations, store sales, inventory control, check-ins and guest information. Great customer service skills are required.
- Manager couple will be responsible for setup and hosting of continental breakfast each morning for the Lodge and Cabin guests.
- Prior customer service experience is preferred.
- Experience managing motel preferred but not required.
- Must have excellent references and a background check will be required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- At least one person on the team must have property maintenance knowledge.
We Offer:
- We offer 2 days off per week to enjoy and explore the Black Hills.
- $25,000 combined salary for a 7-month season (distributed over 7 or 12 months), divided between the couple.
- Onsite manager apartment provided. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, with full kitchen, and located adjacent to Motel office (no pets).
- Seasonal position, 7 months, April 1 – October 31, 2018.
