WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
If you believe today’s children are tomorrow’s future, this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
Bethany Children's Home, a Sanctuary-accredited nonprofit agency, provides residential services to dependent and delinquent youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our campus in Womelsdorf, Berks County, Pennsylvania. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model for over 152 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.
Bethany is looking for married couples to be Houseparents. The Houseparent position is both challenging and rewarding. Houseparents live on Bethany's campus in a private apartment and provide parental support in a boys or girls cottage by providing compassion, discipline and structure in a safe, home-like environment.
Applicants should be mature, responsible individuals with a sense of mission to help children in need and meet the minimum qualifications:
•Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
•Be able to apply for and receive Child Abuse, State Police and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances
•Be able to certify fitness for duty by a physician no more than 30 days prior to employment and every two years thereafter
•Be able to comply with all physical training requirements
*Proficient verbal and written communication skills
•Have a valid drivers' license with clear 3-year driving history
Preference will be given to those individuals with previous experience working with adolescents in a therapeutic, residential or group living environment.
Houseparents work a continuous schedule of seven (7) days with either three (3) or four (4) off-duty days in between schedules. Work days are typically 10 or 12 hours. Houseparents are on-call between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am during the seven (7) day schedule. Cash stipend range is $28,000 - $40,000 annually per person, depending on experience. Private apartment, household expenses and on-duty meals are provided.
