The Club Steward, either individual or couple, is a full-time role responsible for managing, monitoring and controlling all primary operational aspects of a Philadelphia, PA area private club and its facilities and the management of kitchen staff on member activity days.
Position Reporting: The Steward reports to the Club President
Primary Responsibilities
- -Manages and schedules a staff of part-time kitchen personnel in performing designated duties, including food preparation support and clean-up on scheduled member activity days.
- -Manages the inventory of kitchen and clubhouse assets and the ordering of required items.
- -Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds and coordinates with required maintenance vendors.
- -Vendor management and oversight with respect to food and supply deliveries, trash and other routine operating services.
- -Manages and maintains required information and coordinates as necessary with the club’s bookkeeper.
- -Manages necessary communication with the membership and maintains required records.
- -In coordination with the Club President and members, reviews and discusses necessary items with respect to member activity days.
- -Ensures that all clubhouse security procedures are followed and maintained.
- -Assesses and continually monitors the health and safety aspects, maintenance requirements, hygiene and cleanliness of the Club and detects and solves related current and potential problems.
- -Keeps sensitive information confidential and informs the Governors of such matters requiring their attention.
- -Coordinates on requested projects or activities with the Governors and Club committee chairmen.
- -Brings to the attention of the Club Governors any important operating issue or need deemed to require their attention.
Core Competencies/Qualifications
- -Prior, successful management or operational experience in a private club or similar organization
- -Cooking expertise and interest
- -Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- -High standards of numeric skills with an understanding of basic accounting procedures
- -Aptitude for training and a willingness to learn new operational processes
- -Excellent organizational and communication skills
- -Ability to effectively manage part-time staff
- -High ethical and moral standards
- -Dedicated, with attention to detail and able to consistently meet time and planning requirements for all aspects of the job
- -Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with the Club’s officer’s, Governors and membership.
Position Conditions
- -The Steward role requires the individual to reside at the clubhouse within provided private living accommodations.
- -Own a personal, insured vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license
Compensation
- -Competitive and subject to discussion based upon prior experience and role responsibilities
- -Compensation will include: •Base salary •Contribution to the individual’s qualified retirement plan
