What the opportunity entails:
We are looking for someone who wants to live close to nature in a beautiful environment with a rent free place and a car provided. In exchange for help with some of the below and the stated obligations. Most of the time you will be free to do your own thing. You will by no means be expected to do all or even most of the tasks listed below. They are purely listed to give you an idea of what happens in the running of Arcadia.
. Extra Tasks include -
- Preparing for music events and being available as part of the team during and after for post event clear up.
- Preparing and setting up for lessons, seminars, meetings in the communal room assigned.
- Cleaning and maintaining communal toilets and showers as needed. .
- Caring for the landscape. Mowing, weed eating etc. There are gardens to be planted, watered and tended.
- Herbs veg and fruit to harvest at their time.
- Fruit trees to be pruned and cared.
- Occasional landscaping tasks.
- Trail clearing.
- Seasonal preparation and occasional fire wood collection.
- Machine maintenance.
- Tool Maintenance.
Be accountable for the tools you use and put away in their assigned places each day.
Your personal obligation in exchange for a rent free home and use of a car will be as follows.
Keep clean and to good standard of tidiness the Dragon House (your home) and the tower (outside meditation/meeting area).
Allie - 6 year old friendly charismatic pit bull terrier (doesn’t get on with other female pit bulls). She has been abandoned three times and can be very needy. The mountain is her forever home and who ever comes to us needs to be able to offer her as much love and security as possible (as all who live and work on the mountain try to do. She is part of Arcadia).
Feed the two outside cats (Babette and Smokey) - Pet when they will allow and groom if possible. Deworm if you can.
Chickens,Guinea fowl and ducks - Let out and put away early morning (no later than 9am if possible) and at dusk. Feed twice a day. We give them fresh permitted fruit and vegetables and some scraps as well as crumble. Collect and clean eggs. Serve any customers who may come to the house. Food and vets bills for all the animals will be provided.
There is no paid work, as we hope this will become your home and you will see what we are trying to achieve here.
Be flexible and will to be on hand when needed. Be creative to enhance the joy of Arcadia.
