CLEEF, located in Campo, CA, consists of 167 acres of the original Camp Lockett Army Base, home of the Buffalo Soldiers. We are looking for an experienced leader to be responsible for minor repair, upkeep, and care of CLEEF assets, buildings, storage containers, and grounds. This caretaker role is responsible to the Facility Manager and Project Lead for a maintenance program appropriate for CLEEF members, volunteers, and clients and in keeping with the CLEEF mission and vision.
This position does not include a wage or salary, only free Full RV Hookup. All applicants must be 18 years of age to apply. Applicant must be willing to stay a minimum of 3 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a maintenance plan for CLEEF buildings, storage containers, assets, and grounds.
- Record of completion of all maintenance to include caretaker work, third party contractors, and workdays.
- Conduct visual inspections of the facility to determine needed repairs, report issues to the Facility Manager.
- Monitor work performed by third-party contractors and verify that all work is satisfactorily completed, (e.g., pest control, pumping service).
- Conduct minor repairs to grounds equipment.
- Keep buildings and storage containers clean and clear of debris.
- Keep grounds mowed, arenas groomed, and road graded to support safe use.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, assets, and cleaning supplies, report shortages, or issues to the Facility Manager.
- Keep CLEEF Board informed of progress and issues regarding caretaker responsibilities.
- Assist with CLEEF events as required to include grounds and track grooming, garbage receptacle placement and dumping, arena lighting requirements, and cleanliness of port-a-johns and bathrooms.
- Support CLEEF events which may occur on weekends or holidays.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of grounds equipment, grounds maintenance, and custodial services
- Ability to communicate ideas and information in a written and oral format to the Board of Directors, members, and clients
- Ability to use your initiative
- Skilled in oral and written communications
- Computer skills: Word, XLS, Powerpoint
EXPERIENCE
- Experience leading and managing personnel
- Experience planning preventative maintenance plans for buildings, facilities infrastructure, and support equipment and tools
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Lead Caretaker is considered full time (40-hour week) and resides on-premise to provide other surveillance and security.
- Support Caretaker is considered part-time (25-hour week) and resides in their RV on-premise.
- Applicants must stay for at least 3 months.
- Lead Caretaker and part-time caretakers are responsible for their health and personal property insurance.
