Company: Our Lodge provides overnight visitors with accommodations, dining, and recreation experiences. In addition, a large general store is located on the property offering snacks, souvenirs, clothing and gifts to highway travelers. We are located in Kootenay National Park a 45 minute drive to both Banff and Radium Hot Springs. The lodge is operated completely off generators and there is no cell reception, however the main buildings do have WIFI.
As a smaller operation we are looking for multi-talented employees to fulfill a variety of positions around the lodge. Kootenay Park Lodge is vibrant, energetic and dynamic environment to work in. With a picturesque mountain setting and glacier river, it is a dream location for any nature enthusiast. Also, we will be offering accommodations, some meals and a bonus upon completion of the full contract.
Perks:We will be offering accommodations, snacks and one meal daily and a bonus upon completion of the full contract. Employees have use of staff fire pit, shared bicycles, separate staff fridge and gathering area. We value the hard work of our team and reward them with extras like dinners out, movies nights, bowling, rafting, horseback riding and staff BBQs.
Job Description/Responsibilities: We are seeking a couple who together possess the following skills and experience. Your main responsibilities will be participating in and assisting to oversee all day to day operations. This includes a hands on approach to completing day to day tasks as well as overseeing other employees while working closely with onsite owners.
Front Desk/Information:Welcome guests, complete check-in procedures, process payments, make, cancel and confirm reservations, provide information about the history of the lodge and area, provide directions and recommendations about nearby hiking trails and attractions.
Retail/Customer Service: Greet customers, keep merchandise stocked and tidy, and process sales transactions. On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to answer customer inquiries, operate a cash register, take payment, make change, monitor inventory, upsell, re- fold clothing, polish glassware, light cleaning duties including washrooms.
Housekeeping: Change over rooms including light and heavy cleaning duties, wash and fold linens and towels, stock firewood and other cabin consumables, work independently and prioritize items as needed.
Maintenance:Ensure diesel generators are kept in good working order, plumbing repairs including toilets, fixtures and hot water tanks, lighting pilot lights, wood chopping, cutting grass, painting and general repairs.
Cooking and Kitchen Duties: Safe food handling, operating a grill, preparing salads, using a deep fryer, maintaining a clean working environment.
Requirements and Qualifications: You will be a hardworking, motivated, self-starter who is personable, accommodating and knowledgeable. Own transportation is required. You will have completed high school, GED or be enrolled in post-secondary education and will have transferrable prior work experience. You will have or be willing to obtain Safe Food Handling course and Serve Right or equivalent, Criminal Records Check, and references. In addition, we are seeking employees who are active, outdoor oriented and prepared to live in a somewhat isolated environment.
