Program Director
Program Director
Posted: 11/18/2021
JOB DESCRIPTION
This new position will focus on rebuilding, implementing, and managing Emmaus Farm’s Volunteer Program after an extended closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, and reestablishing our presence in our community of Lewis County, KY. This role will require creativity to establish specific duties and tasks to fulfill goals and projects, so this is a great position for a flexible, independent, self-starter. While a lot of specific tasks will be done independently, developing and articulating goals, as well as problem-solving, will be collaborative work with the Executive Director. Requirements for this position include facilitating an ethical volunteer program that serves the needs of the county in a just way, and focusing on social justice in Appalachia, as a crucial element of our volunteer program based on Appalachian immersion and education.
This position does not require “traditional” business hours and schedule, so it will be great for someone who thrives on a lack of traditional structure and is open to fluidity of work hours. The Program Director role will be collaborative with the Executive Director and will continue to develop and evolve to support the changing needs of the Farm and Lewis County.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Reestablish previous and develop new sites, evaluating the needs of the county and what Emmaus Farm volunteers can do to support those needs

- Be an Emmaus Farm presence in Lewis County and increase community outreach, establishing more ongoing relationships with community partners
- Explore options for short-term staff or summer/seasonal volunteers and help establish a program for those volunteers to assist with week-long groups, Farm maintenance/improvement, and Lewis County outreach
- Live on site and maintain Farm Property: grounds-keeping, improvements, repairs
