FEATURED JOB OPENING: Work/Trade for Accommodation at a Remote Hunting and Cattle Ranch - Datil, NM
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
My husband and I are seeking a caretaker/caretaker couple for a remote elk hunting ranch in Datil, New Mexico in exchange for housing, paid utilities, and ½ beef per year. We are looking for someone to help with all aspects of maintaining the ranch, sometimes working side-by-side with us, as well as taking care of everything the times we are away. Chores vary greatly depending on the season, but some typical chores and work may include: feeding and watering the livestock (cattle, horses, sheep, chickens, game birds, dogs and cats), watering the greenhouse, yard and general maintenance of headquarters, checking cattle/elk drinkers and storages, running generators for pumping wells, checking/fixing fences, fixing pipelines, breaking ice in drinkers, handyman work, and other miscellaneous tasks. Experience with livestock, skid steer and tractor operation, ranch experience and handyman skills are valued, and caretakers must be willing to work in inclement weather. We do not use horses on our cattle. Must be able to lift 50 lb. sacks of feed. Applicants must pass a background check.
Caretakers must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work some weekends. We will also coordinate with you each month prior and schedule 10 days off per month.
Housing and utilities include a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2-story barndominium, water, electric, and propane, along with firewood for use in the woodstove and fire pit. Local phone service and internet are also provided.
