Seeking a responsible, caring, married couple to become our  House Parents. We are located in Ellensburg, Washington (2 hours east of Seattle and home to Central Washington University). This home was specifically designed and created to promote independent living for young men with developmental disabilities. Our care philosophy emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with respect for each resident. House Parents are responsible for overseeing the residents’ established daily routines while caring for the residents in the home.

We are built on large acreage (6 acres). The house features a master suite for the House Parents, four other bedrooms with ensuite baths (for the 4 Residents). An open concept kitchen, dinning, living room and a spacious media/theather room for the Residents to comfortably enjoy a movie with their guests. A wraparound deck that offers beautiful views, including of Mt. Rainier.


Position Compensation starting at: 


  • Hourly starting wage equivalent to approximately $62,400.00 (this is based on 4 Residents) per couple, tax-exempt, based on full residency.
  • Offers regular wage increases based on hours worked along with a comprehensive benefit package including high-quality health insurance, PTO, etc. 
  • Housing, utilities, and food are provided as well as a house SUV to drive when on-duty.


Work Schedule: 


  • House Parents operate on a “3 weeks on and 1 week off” rotation and receive 7 consecutive days off each month 
  • Residents attend an off-site support program during daytime hours Mon – Fri, year-round, allowing the House Parents time off during each weekday. Hours fluctuate according to season and circumstances.






  • A high school diploma or equivalent; experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred, but not required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet the training requirements necessary for certification as a Washington State Individual Care Provider (IP). Each House Parent will complete 75 hours of paid training to meet the requirements. 
  • A position at “Hillside Haven" will be contingent upon this certification and the results of a Washington State background check.
  • Caregivers need to be physically and mentally capable of implementing each Residents’ care plan which can include personal hygiene care, behavioral support, meal planning and cooking, housework, light yard maintenance, etc.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, passionate about enriching the lives of those with developmental disabilities.
