Volunteer Position at Historic Cabins Park - Renfro Valley, KY
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Our Cabin Village in Renfro Valley, Kentucky is searching for a volunteer couple to assist with the day to day operations of our historic cabin village. As this is a volunteer position, there is no pay associated with the hours, but you will be compensated with housing, including a partially furnished house including all utilities, TV, and internet. This is a historic cabin village, so we may ask that you do things according to the time period (see below).
Daily you will be expected to open the store and each of the cabins and set up for the day. Current hours are Thursday-Sunday from 10am-6pm. There may be some additional hours or change of hours if we see they are needed by visitors or when there is a concert at the nearby venue. Job description as follows and includes, but not limited to:
Store: Open the store and set up for the day. Light cleaning including dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, stocking, and reorganizing inventory is required. Will need the skills to use a tablet-based point of sale system for guest purchases. Will answer guest questions about the area and lead them to other tourist destinations in the county and possibly state. Encourage guests to visit the cabins.
Cabins: Tidy, clean, and maintain cabins. This may include light cleaning, maintenance including carpentry, sanding, painting, and other duties as assigned to keep cabins up. An understanding of basic maintenance duties is required.
Grounds: Some trimming, mowing, planning, pruning, and other lawn and grounds duties required. This is a small space and, if kept up, can be done in a day. These grounds hours are to be completed during opening hours and, if possible, done in a way that is consistent with the time period. A small vegetable garden will be required, and produce will be sold in the store as it becomes available.
This is a very unique opportunity for a couple who is self-motivated. You will be required to manage your own time and, for the most part, manage yourselves. Out of the box thinkers encouraged to apply! Costumes may be required for some weekends and will be provided by the Rockcastle County Tourism Commission. Resumes will be accepted starting 2/1/19 to 3/8/19. A decision will be made by the board on 3/13/19 and applicants will be contacted soon after. Position begins 5/16/19 and ends 9/30/19.
