We are currently looking for live-In Promise Academy Dorm Directors. The Promise Academy Dorm Director should be a ministry minded couple that will maintain a Christian environment for our (5-10) Promise Academy boys ages 10-17 years. The Promise Academy Dorm Directors provides healthy Christian role modeling for other ministries of Quakerdale. This individual or couple also teaches sustainable agriculture, positive interpersonal skills, values and leadership characteristics. This is truly a ministry call to individuals wanting to make a difference in the lives of children and working within a community of committed individuals.
Quakerdale Promise Academy Dorm Directors' Summary:
The Promise Academy Dorm Director functions much like a professional resident hall advisor in a house for children ages 10-17 and manages the sustainable agriculture learning lab. The director establishes a Christian environment, role models healthy interpersonal relationships, care taker styles, and teaches responsible behavior and decision making. The director functions as part of a team to implement the programmatic values and components with a primary goal of teaching the youth skills and developing assets to become well-balanced, well-educated, responsible adults who have positive morals, values and demonstrate leadership potential.
Quakerdale Promise Academy Dorm Directors' Qualifications:
1. Prefer BA/BSW from an accredited college or university in social work or related human service field. Or, BA (unrelated field) with experience in human services or foster care, or aptitude for working with teens.
2. In exceptional circumstances, an AA/AS degree or high school diploma will be considered with experience in human services or foster care.
3. Must pass child abuse registry and criminal record check.
4. Must be medically determined to be free of serious infectious communicable diseases.
5. Must have (or be willing to obtain) Class D. Endorsement 3 chauffeur’s license.
Quakerdale Promise Academy Dorm Directors' Job Functions:
1. Expected to be present in shared living quarters and actively supervise youth while on-duty, except when sleeping.
2. Manage crisis situations and critical incidents in accordance with policies outlined in manuals and training.
3. Conduct safety and fire drills on a regular and consistent basis.
4. Stores hazardous materials in designated areas.
5. Insures routine and emergency medical care is provided when necessary.
6. Works cooperatively with other agency staff.
7. Supervise youth in the completion of all daily and weekly chores and routines, such as food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, hygiene and health care needs.
8. Follows menu, purchases grocery supplies so that all meals can be prepared as planned, and teaches and supervises youth in meal preparation. Meals should begin with prayer, be eaten together family-style, a time for sharing, free from tension and conflict.
9. Follows cottage schedule as strictly as possible.
10. Insures proper use and care of Quakerdale property and equipment, and personal property of youth and staff.
11. Plan shopping trips, as needed, and supervises purchases of clothing and other supplies.
12. Supports and integrates Quakerdale mission, vision, agency values and Christian philosophy in service delivery.
13. Models responsible adult behavior, healthy adult relationships, communication style, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
14. Establishes rapport and a caring relationship with each youth.
15. Insures the program values are evident in your relationships with the youth and with the culture of the home including: caring, sense of community, safety and stability, Christian living, self-worth, opportunity, responsibility, and leadership.
16. Insures children follow rules and get along with each other. Implements appropriate discipline when necessary.
17. Strives in all endeavors to live out the vision of Quakerdale, "to serve as Christ serves."
18. Understands and implements appropriate disclosure practices as regulated by HIPAA.
