WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Located in Niceville, we have opportunities that include hiking, bicycling, picnicking, canoeing and wildlife viewing. A double-lane boat ramp makes this one of the best boat-launching locations on the bay, where saltwater fish are found. U.S. Air Force Colonel Fred Gannon was instrumental in preserving this site with beautiful old-growth longleaf pine trees, several more than 300 years old.
We are looking for volunteers to assist park staff with administration, general upkeep, or maintenance in exchange for a campsite. Administration tasks includes ranger station operations (answering the phone, collecting fees, registering campers, selling park merchandise), cleaning the building and restroom. Park host tasks include removing debris from park grounds (may require using a blower), maintaining and cleaning restrooms, assisting with campsite cleanup, mowing and trimming, and washing the boat ramp. Maintenance tasks include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, construction, and assisting other volunteers when needed.
