WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are seeking two people to operate our lodge, starting full time in May until mid Oct 2019. The two people will share a room in the lodge, which accommodates up to 8 guests plus up to 12 more in other buildings. Both will report to a supervisor.
JOB DUTIES:
- Understanding and embracing the vision
- Cheerfully greeting guests, assisting with questions, helping coordinate activities, etc
- Planning, preparing and serving all meals and drinks (including wine/beer)
- Ordering and storing/handling food to Idaho Board of Health standards
- Managing merchandise inventory and sales
- Cleaning lodge & guest rooms, duplex and yurt & maintaining clean linens, dishes, etc
- Planning for guests via reservation data from website
- Collecting cash/credit card payments for services and goods & basic record keeping
- Mowing and watering lawn; irrigating pasture
- Maintaining buildings and equipment, performing minor maintenance as needed
- Cutting/splitting firewood as needed
- Communicating with IAF supervisor with updates and needs
- Disposing of garbage
- Assisting in collecting donations for IAF on site
- Promoting Big Creek Lodge via website/social media posts
- Delegating appropriate work to volunteers when available
- Understanding and meeting operational requirements of USFS Special Use Permit
- Maintaining productive relationships with USFS, Edwardsburg neighbors, outfitters, etc
- Managing controllable costs
- Assisting customers with emergencies, and other issues as needed
- Other appropriate duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Must be over 19 years old and able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work indoors & outdoors in varying weather (cold/heat, smoke, occasional snow, etc)
- Idaho Health and Welfare food handling certification, which can be arranged prior to start date
- Applicants should have strong communication skills and meet well with the public
- Applicants must be in good health and physically capable of performing the duties described
- Ability to ‘think on feet’, take initiative and solve problems while in a remote location.
- Desire to please visitors and have an aptitude for hospitality
- Average computer skills with Excel or QuickBooks, for financial reporting
- Ability to develop/execute ideas that can grow occupancy and/or improve customer experience
- Willingness to work extra hours as needed during busy times while enjoying long breaks during slow times Continued…
- OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:
- First Aid Training (Wilderness First Aid, First Responders, AED training, CPR, etc)
- Culinary and or Hospitality Training
- Experience in ‘off the grid’ systems (hydroelectric, propane, septic, etc)
- Commercial Driving License
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Salary is negotiable commensurate with applicable skills and experience
- Free Room and Meals (alcohol not included)
- Up to $2000 pp in performance incentives, criteria to be agreed upon prior to starting work
- Managers will have latitude to run the Lodge with their judgement assuming key measures are met and policies are coordinated/approved by the IAF Supervisor
- Enjoyment of the local area and outdoor activities during slow times and time off. Potential for 2-4 days off per month, and possible assistance during busy times using volunteers
- Sense of accomplishment and pride in working in a unique and beautiful location
- Worker’s Compensation, Social Security, Employment Taxes
2019 SEASON:
The lodge opening date is May 24, 2019. The successful candidates will start around May 1 to have time to learn the infrastructure systems, assist in setting up the lodge, refine processes, and procure inventory.
