Lodge Cook / Fishing and Wildlife Guide - Kodiak, AK
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are looking for a cook and a guide to work at our lodge. Due to remoteness we prefer a couple. Our lodge is not accessible by roads on Kodiak Island. We are family run for 30 years, and you'd be working with the owner and his family.
Lodge Cook daily prepares family style meals June 10 - September 15 for both guests and crew. You must be capable of swing shifts with time off in the afternoon. You must have previous experience in preparing entrees, breads and desserts as well as cooking for those with allergies or different food needs. This person must also be able to provide a weekly meal plan and shopping list for the employer. The kitchen is cleaned daily before heading home. The cook must have an Alaska food worker card. Pay is $4500 a month/$150 a day.
The Guide must be willing to take guests river fishing or wildlife viewing as per their request June 10 - September 15. You need experience with spinning rods, knot tying, release practices and firearms. You need to be capable of small talk and carrying coversations about nature with wildlife viewers and learning our local flora and fauna to share with them on adventures. You must be willing to take care of all the needs our guests might have including helping secure appropriate gear from our supply, packing their lunches and/or catch of the day to and from the river accordingly, and giving them a hand through slippery grass or across muddy areas. There will be on-site training to learn about the river areas, safety, and how to deal with bear encounters. When guests return from their fishing trip you will help fillet, package and clean up the fishing processing area. When there are no guests for you to take on an adventure, you'd be assigned lodge jobs including lawn care and daily maintenance jobs. The guide must be CPR/First Aid certified. Guide gets $3000 a month/$100 a day.
Couple would be provided room and board for the duration of their stay. Flight from the city of Kodiak to the lodge and back to town at the end of the season is provided for. The flight to Kodiak from your hometown is your responsibility.
