Rare opportunity to live, work, and play inside America’s largest national park! Spend your days in the foothills of Mt. Sanford, next to Twin and Jack lakes, with breathtaking vistas surrounding you. From fishing, hiking, birding, and biking, to meeting happy adventure travelers from around the world, this is the place to soak up the best of Alaska’s incredible summers.
We’re a small, off-the-grid, family-run outfit, located along a well-maintained historic mining road, approximately 110 road miles from Tok. In contrast to the noisier, more developed south side of the park, the Nabesna Road is still wild and largely undeveloped. Our many customers come from all over the world to experience the stunning scenery, solitude, wildlife, and history.
We are seeking all-around help for the upcoming tourist season, May through September. There are four rental cabins, a sauna/wash cabin, an airstrip, and a tavern in the main lodge.
The ideal candidate: 21+years old, self-starting, physically fit, mature, and responsible (couple preferred), who enjoys a variety of tasks in a wilderness setting.
Desired skills/experience include working well alone and as part of a team, customer service, housekeeping, yard work, food service, bartending, and general maintenance/carpentry. Duties may include greeting customers, answering questions in person and over the phone, assisting with check-in/check-out, housekeeping of cabins and main lodge, light yard work and garden care, performing minor carpentry repairs, preparing and serving drinks and light meals, using a POS payment system to handle customer transactions.
Compensation is $10.25 to $12/hour + tips DOE, plus water and <20-amp electric hookups in a boreal forest setting, use of wash-house and lodge washer/dryer, with a flexible 20-hour weekly minimum commitment per person, and opportunity for more hours if desired. HughesNet satellite internet and phone service are also available for a fee. Cell phone reception is approx. 10 miles down the road.
Must be willing to commit for the season (flexible on start/end dates), have references, and pass a background check. Enjoy the best of both Alaskan worlds--have the untouched wildness of the park largely to yourself while still being on the road system. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend a summer in one of the world’s most beautiful and serene places, as part of a true Alaskan lodge family!
