Mission: Helping Families find hope and healing in Christ
The House Parent position is an exciting and rewarding position living in one of our two homes (Boys or Girls). The position is ideal for a married couple without children or children who have already moved out of the home. As house parents, your primary role would be ensuring the home; program, staff and residents, are running smoothly. This is a critical role as it ministers to the residents by providing a stable, Christ-centered and loving home environment. It is also invaluable as the house parents provide wisdom and encouragement to the other home staff.
Responsibilities Include:
--Plan and coordinate the daily schedule for the Home.
--Plan and prepare meals with a focus on well-balanced nutrition.
--Be available to the teens and staff for spiritual and emotional support, coordinating their input with the Counselors.
--Become familiar with each young persons personal history and temperament in order to relate in an effective way to each teen as an individual.
--Participate in the screening and interviewing of prospective residents and Home staff.
--Coordinate efforts and work closely with other staff outside of the Home including the School and other Ministry support personnel.
Preferred Profile and Experience:
--A calling to work with teens in conflict.
--A healthy balance of organization/planning gifts and spontaneity/flexibility.
--An outgoing personality that is energized by people.
--A servants heart and desire to nurture others and help people grow.
--Experience and/or education in youth ministry, counseling, leadership, discipleship is very helpful.
--Good communication skills, integrity, honesty, humility, and teachability are necessary.
--Practical gifts and passions such as cooking, sports, arts and crafts, trade skills, and music are highly beneficial for teaching life-skills and building relationships.
Time Commitment:
--We request that our House Parents commit to serve for at least 4 years
Salary/Benefits:
--We do provide a Monthly Salary. While this is a paid position, we do encourage all of our staff to raise additional prayer and financial support. We believe prayer is essential for the ministry to be successful and we know that each dollar donated will help us to provide services to the hurting families we serve.(We never turn down a family because of financial difficulties)
--Four 11 day breaks a year, two consecutive days off a week
