WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?

Villa Hermosa and Toucan are the two guest houses in Costa Rica near the Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna, Monterrey and The Springs Resort.  The guest houses are associated with the house to live in. Each has a complete bathroom. We are seeking the right couple to watch over the house and to help serve the guests staying in the two guest houses.

The House: We have a three-bedroom home, with large living room dining room and kitchen area, as well as a laundry area.  One bedroom is near a front porch with a view of rolling pasture and cows and the other bedroom is near the back yard with banana “trees” (they are actually a form of bush) that attract Costa Rica’s amazingly diverse bird population. We get up to 44 different bird species, including Toucans.  There is one complete bathroom and one half.

The house and guest houses are on an acre of land and there is a large game room with pool table and darts and other amenities (including a complete bathroom) and there is a gorgeous large new swimming pool with electric waterfall and lovely pebbled walkways throughout the property, lined with exotic plants and flowers. Pool can be used whenever guests are not on the premises.

We also have a frog pond, and some of the butterflies and other insects are pretty unusual.  We can send photos of everything.

We are on the country road (bumpy needs four wheel drive) between The Springs Resort, (world famous hot-springs resort) and Leaves and Lizards (world famous horse therapy resort).  The road to the Springs is new and fine.  The next mile to our house is bumpy and rocky and requires that the couple have their own vehicle and that it is a four wheel drive. (30 minutes one way to Fortuna; 40 minutes the alternate route through Monterrey).

We need a trustworthy couple to live here a minimum of three months.  We will draw up a clear contract with them at the time of mutual agreement.

My son will manage the business--- in terms of bookings and help with tours in the area, etc.--- but the couple would need to be ready to greet our guests as they come ( if we are not here, and so that we can travel elsewhere) and make sure to tell us that the landscape maintainer and the maid have kept up with a detailed list of required guest needs and services.  i.e. if we are not here they will need to oversee completely the management and running of the home, propane, supplies, satisfying guest needs, etc.

The couple needs to be experienced in and comfortable with hospitality service for guest houses. (We request resumes for each person please and reference people please).

Also, my son who runs the business, and/or I may be living here at any time in the house,  occupying one or two of the bedrooms.  The house would not be usable as a place for private guests for the care taking couple. But it will be a happy home.

Basically because there is no food to serve the guests, the “job” of the couple entails giving guests the keys and getting back the keys as keys are expensive and include an electronic gate opener for the driveway into the property.

However, we want the couple to do the cooking for the house whenever my son and I are here.  We eat only organic food of any type and we want only organic food in the house.

We would prefer an even swap:  The couple would meet and greet and we provide free rent, maid service, landscape maintainer and a natural bird sanctuary.

Couple must pay their own gas, their own food bill and $75/month toward the gas, water, electric and wifi bills.

IDEAL place for a COUPLE, either Retired, bird-watching lovers, or young entrepreneurs who might even want to buy it from us, as I am of an age to consider selling for a good rate.

Anything else I can do to help….Everything is in good working order, pretty and well-maintained and we would just want people who would keep it like that and enjoy the place.

We are between Monterrey and La Fortuna, near the famous Arenal Volcano.
