Beautiful farmhouse in Umbria run by an Italian Chef (english speaking), is looking for positive, jolly and hard working couple or two friends for seasonal work from July 10th to August 30th 2019.
We are running a garden to plate experience. We are looking for two people: chef's assistant and gardener position. On the kitchen side : food shopping, food prep, catering, assistant in cooking classes ( paid job) confidence in a kitchen required. On the garden side: taking care of the vegetable garden, cutting grass, general garden maintenance . Free separate accommodation in beautiful farmhouse with stunning view of the Umbrian country side. Located 20 minute drive from Orvieto. Independent Transport required.
CHEF ASSISTANT: Shopping ( when necessary) -Food prep at my farmhouse -Catering with the me for small private dinner ( normally from 5.30pm to 9.30pm ) in local Villas or occasional wedding booking - Cooking class assistant at the farmhouse . My group students are from 4 to 13 people. Morning classes followed by lunch. - Cooking class assistant to be run in a local Wine Estate ( probably 3 time during the season) For this position the assistant chef will receive 500 euros per month in exchange for 25 hours per week The first month of the season has more time preparing in the garden and gradually the kitchen increases in work. Any work hours that are not used are rolled over to the following week. Horticultural Accommodation is in exchange for the horticultural work necessary and outlined below. Accommodation on offer has an independent shared front entrance. Large shared living area and kitchen with one shared bathroom. Allocated private garden area for meals. Accommodation is fully inclusive of all bills. Electricity, water, housing taxes, refuse collection, sheets and bedding and towels. There is an internet router in the accommodation but wifi can be organised by the applicant. Applicants will be expected to look after themselves independently from the school. In exchange for the accommodation applicants will be expected to fulfil the following duties. Mow and maintain the lawns surrounding the farmhouse. Keep the area at the front of the farmhouse clear and attractive for arrival of cooking students. Maintain the vegetable garden to a good clean standard. Plant, weed and water the vegetables. The vegetable garden is approx 50 x 50 metres and horticultural fabric is used to keep the weeding to a minimum. Watering is crucial. The vegetable garden and everything grown in it is used by the cookery school. But any excesses can be used by the applicants. The cookery school has 2 cats and applicants will be expected to put out their food each day, but the cats live freely and do not need to enter the accommodation unless wanted.
