Introduction:The Sunridge Ranch Community is seeking a responsible, caring, married couple to become our Secondary “Relief” House Parents. The Sunridge Community, located in Ellensburg, Washington (two hours east from Seattle), was specifically designed and created to promote independent living for young men with developmental disabilities. The care philosophy of Sunridge Ranch emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with respect for each resident. We strive to integrate the daily opportunities that a typical person might experience and the additional support our residents require into a unifying whole, so that life is truly as rich and fulfilling as possible. The Sunridge Ranch Community currently consists of two homes, each with four residents, with a third home to open soon. Our Secondary “Relief” House Parents are responsible for overseeing the residents’ established daily routines while caring for the residents one week at each home.

Position Description: Secondary House Parents work directly with residents in their homes providing personal care, cooking, transportation, behavior support, and assistance with maintaining the home. They enter the home one week per month to support the residents while the Primary House Parents have time off. The Secondary House Parents are licensed employees of the state of Washington and provide care for the residents of the Sunridge Community.  The position is on-duty for two weeks and off-duty for two weeks each month. A third home will be opening in the next 3 - 9 months which will see this position changing to three weeks on-duty and one week off-duty each month.

Position Wage: Wage based on Individual Care Provider (IP) current wage rate along with receiving a comprehensive benefits package. Currently with two houses, this equates to approximately $40,000.00 per year per couple. Once the third house opens, this will add an additional $20,000.00 of income per couple per year. PTO is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Separate private housing, with utilities, is included for use during time off. This housing, just like all Sunridge Community properties, buildings, and vehicles, is non-smoking and pet free.

Work Schedule:Starting - Two weeks on and two weeks off supporting two (2) homes. Duty-free time off each weekday while the residents are in the community. Eventually - Three weeks on and one week off supporting three (3) homes.


• Must meet the training requirements to become a Washington State Individual Care Provider (IP). Each houseparent will complete 75 hours of paid training through the state as well as on-site training with the Sunridge Community. Employment shall be contingent upon the results of a Washington State background check. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

• A high school diploma or equivalent; experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred.

• Caregivers need to be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties detailed in the residents’ care plans, which include individual personal hygiene, meal planning, cooking, light housework and light yard maintenance.

• Must be reliable, flexible, and have the ability to work in a team environment.
