We are seeking a responsible, caring married couple to become House Parents. The Community is located just outside the quaint college town of Ellensburg two hours east from Seattle and consists of 3 separate, privately owned homes that utilize the same Sunridge Ranch model floorplan and method of operation. Each Sunridge home is specifically designed to promote independent living for four young men with developmental disabilities and utilizes various smart-home technologies designed to support this population.

The care philosophy of Sunridge emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with respect for each Resident. Our House Parents are responsible for overseeing the Residents’ established daily routines and caring for the home. We strive to integrate all the typical daily opportunities experienced by individuals into a unifying whole, so that these young men’s lives are truly as rich and fulfilling as possible.

Position Compensation starting at:

  • Hourly starting wage equivalent to approximately $62,400.00 per couple, tax-exempt, based on full residency.
  • Offers regular wage increases based on hours worked along with a comprehensive benefit package including high-quality health insurance, PTO, etc.
  • Offers performance-based bonus opportunities occurring bi-annually throughout employment, which can be equivalent to an additional 15% of annual salary.
  • Housing, utilities, and food are provided as well as a house SUV to drive when on-duty.

The Sunridge Ranch homes are constructed on large acreages and feature expansive living spaces with soaring ceilings and natural stone flooring mixed with beautiful hardwoods. The House Parent master suites offer a walk-in closet, office area and spa bath. The Resident owners’ all have separate bedrooms with ensuite baths. The chef’s kitchens offer slab counters, 2 dishwashers, double ovens and 5 burner cook-top. The media / theater rooms are spacious and comfortable for the Resident owners and their guests. Sited on the hillsides surrounding Badger Pocket, the views abound from each home, including Mt. Rainier above the foothills! Wraparound decks and huge patio areas enhance the outdoor living experience.

The three Sunridge Ranches offer additional amenities to the Community including a half-court gym on-site at Sunridge Ranch II full of activities, sports and exercise equipment and an outdoor swimming pool with hot tub at the original Sunridge Ranch.

There are two different House Parent positions at the Sunridge Ranch that are very similar – Primary House Parents who operate at one home 3 weeks of each month, and Relief House Parents who rotate between the three homes, 1 week at each home each month. Please inquire what positions are available.

Work Schedule:

  • House Parents operate on a “3 weeks on and 1 week off” rotation and receive 7 consecutive days off each month
  • Residents attend an off-site support program during daytime hours Mon – Fri, year-round, allowing the House Parents time off during each weekday. Hours fluctuate according to season and circumstances.
  • An on-site suite separate from the main house is available for House Parents in the event they choose to stay on the Ranch during their week off each month


  • A high school diploma or equivalent; experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred, but not required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet the training requirements necessary for certification as a Washington State Individual Care Provider (IP). Each House Parent will complete 75 hours of paid training to meet the requirements.
  • A position at Sunridge Ranch will be contingent upon this certification and the results of a Washington State background check.
  • Caregivers need to be physically and mentally capable of implementing each Residents’ care plan which can include personal hygiene care, behavioral support, meal planning and cooking, housework, light yard maintenance, etc.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, passionate about enriching the lives of those with developmental disabilities and have the ability to work in a team environment.
