Introduction:The Sunridge Ranch lll home is seeking a responsible, caring, married couple to become our Primary House Parents. The Sunridge Community, located in Ellensburg, Washington (two hours east of Seattle and home to Central Washington University), was specifically designed and created to promote independent living for young men with developmental disabilities. The care philosophy of Sunridge Ranch emphasizes encouragement and positive reinforcement with respect for each resident. We strive to integrate the daily opportunities that a typical person might experience and the additional support our residents require into a unifying whole, so that life is truly as rich and fulfilling as possible. Our Primary House Parents are responsible for overseeing the residents’ established daily routines while caring for the residents in the home.

Position Description: Primary House Parents work directly with residents in their homes providing personal care, cooking, transportation, behavior support, and assistance with maintaining the home. They reside in the newly constructed home with the residents. The Primary House Parents are licensed employees of the state of Washington and provide care for the residents of the Sunridge Ranch lll home.  The position is on-duty for three weeks and off-duty for one week each month.

Position Wage: Starting wage equates to approximately up to $60,000.00 per year per couple with four residents in the home. In addition, housing, transportation and meals are provided.  PTO is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. The Sunridge Ranch lll property, building, and vehicle, are non-smoking and pet free.

Work Schedule: Three weeks on and one week off residing in and supporting the home. Duty-free time off each weekday is approximately 5-6 hours when residents are in the greater community.

Qualifications: 

• Must meet the training requirements to become a Washington State Individual Care Provider (IP). Each houseparent will complete 75 hours of paid training through the state as well as on-site training with the Sunridge Community. Employment shall be contingent upon the results of a Washington State background check and acceptable references. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

• Experience working with developmentally disabled, in particular. Individuals with a high school only diploma or equivalent are also encouraged to apply. • Caregivers need to be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties detailed in the residents’ care plans, which include individual personal hygiene, meal planning, cooking, light housework and light yard maintenance.

• Must be reliable, flexible, have a positive attitude and have the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, with other house parents and support staff.
