FEATURED JOB OPENING: Co-Managers/Married Couple - Dallastown, PA
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We have a farm near Dallastown, that is surrounded by other farms, which we have operated for 25 years. We are looking for a married couple to manage our livestock, flower gardens and household. These are full time jobs. We have about 150 deer and several horses and we telemarket venison to restaurants and individuals primarily on the east coast. The farm is about 70 acres, half of which is for the animals and barns and the rest is for the houses and crops. Raising deer is very similar to a Cow/Calf operation.
In addition to the managers we have one full time and two part time employees in the winter and four additional part time employees in the growing season. The managers work with the staff and the managers hours are 8 AM to 5 PM with an hour for lunch. We have a three bedroom house with a two car garage on the farm for the managers. The managers occupy the first floor and the farm office is on the second floor. The record keeping includes Quick Books, an animal inventory program. The main house also has three bedrooms, two of which are used for guests. Our managers and staff do most everything related to the operations of the farm, except major mechanical repairs and raising crops, which are done by our farming partner. We have a second farm in the vicinity where we raise crops along with a farming partner. The flower gardens are pretty extensive but well established. The household work includes cleaning, errands, some meal preparation and some parties. Our present managers retire in the fall.
Compensation is based upon experience and skills, as well as ability to adapt to farm life. Benefits include seven paid holidays, two weeks off with pay, a pension plan, a pool and a contribution to whatever health plan they choose.
Due to the animals, either the owners or the managers have to be in residence on the farm. One staff member works on Saturdays and Sundays can be covered either by the managers or by a rotation of the managers and the staff.
