WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?

We're looking for a couple that can care for 12 - 20 horses while maintaining the rest of our farm.  Owners are out of the country for extended periods of time and are in need of a dedicated team that strives for excellence in horse care while maintaining the farm with great pride.  NO CITY FOLK or UNION WORKERS NEED APPLY.

The couple that we are looking for needs to have experience caring for horses along with being able to operate various types of farm equipment including tractors, skid steers, mowers, etc.  One or both members of the couple would need to have the knowledge to do basic equipment maintenance such as changing air filters, changing oil and general care of machinery as well as having knowledge and skill related to automatic horse waterers.  While the farm has boilers and sophisticated water systems, couple would need to be able to do rudimentary repairs and maintenance but oversee more significant repairs and maintenance done by Mechanical Contractors already familiar with the buildings and their equipment.  Positions would be year-round.  DAILY care is to be provided to the horses with three feedings along with cleaning barn, maintaining paddocks, general turn-out of horses, meeting with vets and farriers; lawns mowed, weeding, tree trimming, painting and like tasks would be added to the list of things to do in the summer.    Ongoing organizing and tidying would be needed in various buildings throughout the year.  Winters are a bit quieter but there are still things to do such as keeping the driveway plowed, doing daily walkthrough of all farm buildings to ensure that mechanicals are operating smoothly and dealing with our very unpredictable weather.  Couple must be prepared to live on farm and do a night check of horses and buildings before retiring for the evening.  Couple must be aware that this is NOT a union job and hours of required work may be amended based on season.

Along with a salary, commensurate with the couple's experience, Alberta Blue Cross and WCB, a three bedroom mobile home would be provided to live in with some furnishings.  All utilities, satellite t.v. and internet would be included.  While a couple is being sought to fill the positions, given that the farm is situated close to schools and community association, a family would be welcome.  Free Board and arena use would be provided for one horse, should couple wish to bring one along.  In recognition of the longer hours that might be involved and basically being "tied" to the farm, four weeks of paid vacation will be provided to be taken as a whole once a year.  Schedule would have to be coordinated with owners to ensure that owners would be at the farm to cover the time away for the couple.  Preference would be for couple to take vacation during late spring to early fall months.

Positions start January 1st, 2020
