WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
Our BOAT CLUB IS LOOKING FOR CARETAKERS for the summer of 2019: We are a beautiful rustic boat club with a one room lodge, furnished caretaker’s cabin, several storage buildings, movable boat docks and very well maintained outhouse restrooms located in the Southeastern Idaho Mountains on Palisades Reservoir near Swan Valley, Idaho.
We are a remote facility, located eight miles off of the paved road, US Highway 26. The reservoir is totally surrounded by National Forest land and does not have any lakefront homes or cabins. Palisades Reservoir, a 16,100 acre reservoir with over 70 miles of limited access shoreline is over 20 miles long. When full, the reservoir is at an elevation of 5620 feet above sea level.
Because of the remoteness of the facility, for safety reasons we prefer that two persons serve as caretakers.
Compensation includes pay and use of the furnished caretaker’s cabin and RV storage parking. Jackson Hole Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park, all of which are approximately a 1-1/2 to 3 hour drive from the boat club. On a majority of the weekdays, caretakers will be alone on the Snake River Boat Club premises.
The caretaker’s cabin is furnished and includes a propane stove, refrigerator, catalytic space heater, and water heater. A washing machine is also provided in the cabin as well as a small shower. The wood stove and catalytic heater provide heating and the wood and propane are provided by the club. Storage parking for an RV is provided near the caretaker’s cabin. Caretakers are required to have a personal cell phone to facilitate communication with the Board.
A partial list of duties includes the following:
- Mow the lawn weekly (approximately two acres with riding and power lawn mower.
- Water and maintain the lawn including application of fertilizer and weed control.
- Move docks as necessary using a hand-powered winch system as reservoir water levels rise/fall.
- Check boats and RV’s.
- Maintain a log of gasoline sales and collect money from sales.
- Clean a small one room lodge and associated fireplace.
- Clean two small one-room restrooms and outside fire pit.
- Pickup driftwood from shoreline and boat dock area.
- Prepare sugar water to feed hummingbirds. Sugar is provided by the club.
The season salary is $6,000. This will be paid in increments of $600 every 2 weeks (10 pay periods), with the final check given on last day of contracted dates. 2019 contract dates are May 25 through October 12, 2018. The facility does not have “full hookups” but has spring water supply and the source is tested at the beginning of each season. In addition, most members use solar or intermittent generator usage to maintain battery charges. A dump facility is located approximately 8 miles away near the Pallisades Dam but some member use transfer totes to haul away blackwater or primarly use the site outhouses.
